The Akan Ghanaians believe that in death, everyone has to be buried in their hometown. For this reason, when Akans and some Ghanaians pass away in foreign lands, if resources are available, they would be ferried to their hometowns for the necessary fitting burial and rites.
In so Akan communities, failure to meet this obligation, is looked upon as a dent on the family's reputation.
